Rams To Manage Matthew Stafford’s Reps At Camp

Matthew Stafford

As the defending Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams get back to business as usual, they will be doing so without quarterback Matthew Stafford. At least some of the time. Stafford required an anti-inflammatory shot during the offseason, but has resumed throwing since training camp begun.

Head coach Sean McVay tempered expectations however, saying that Stafford will be on a “pitch count” although the injury hasn’t restricted him. McVay and the Rams are notorious for limiting veterans in both training camp and the preseason, so this should not come as much surprise, nor should it be much of a concern.

Stafford will almost certainly be ready for Week 1 against the Bills and will continue to be a solid fantasy option. He should also be among the quarterbacks to target weekly in player prop bets, especially because of his connection with star receiver Cooper Kupp. For now, the injury is something to monitor, but also something we’ll almost certainly forget once the regular season arrives.
