Tyler Conklin

Tyler Conklin Impressing Robert Saleh

Tyler Conklin

When the New York Jets inked free agent tight end Tyler Conklin to a three-year, $21 million deal this offseason, it was with the expectation that he would back up fellow tight end signing, C.J. Uzomah. However, based on training camp performance so far, Conklin appears to be the leader for the bulk of the workload.

“Conk is awesome,” head coach Robert Saleh said. “He’s been fantastic for us.”

He further highlighted his three-down skill set, finishing by saying “he’s been a pleasant surprise.” The Jets have been without a real threat at the tight end position for what feels like an eternity, so the additions of Conklin and Uzomah should, at least in theory, provide a major boost to this offense which desperately lacked that presence last season.

Despite the talent at wide receiver, Conklin could become a sneaky fantasy target or bettors dream when the Jets kickoff their season in about a month from now.
