NFL Week 16

NFL Rapid Reaction Week 16: Are the Jags good?

The AFC South continues to impress for all the wrong reasons, but regardless, they still exist meaning we still have to talk about them. Let’s chat about the Week 16 action.

Are the Jaguars good?

Just a few weeks ago, the playoffs looked like a pipe dream for the Jaguars. Now, they have the inside track to potentially winning the AFC South. The offense has picked it up lately, and Trevor Lawrence is showing why he was the top selection in last year’s draft, but are they actually good? That’s where it gets difficult. Jacksonville has been the beneficiary of multiple late game comebacks, and there is some luck that comes with that. It’s the same team that has lost to the Texans, Broncos, and Colts this season. Then on Thursday night, they beat a Jets team that had no interest in playing with Zach Wilson under center, but couldn’t pull away even with that reality. So is Jacksonville good? The answer is a complicated one, but personally, I lean more towards the ‘no’ end of the spectrum. At least not yet. Lawrence looks like the real deal, but there is still a way to go yet. At least Doug Pederson looks like the right hire, but it’s important to contextualize why the Jags are in the spot at all.

Pack up the Titans

We cannot be too quick to judge here, but let’s just say that the early returns on the Malik Willis experiment are not promising. The free fall continues in Tennessee as the losing streak is now at five games for the Titans. This team is not fun to watch, and they are also not good either. The injuries have taken their toll, highlighted by an embarrassing loss to the lowly Texans. For now, the best option they have is resting any potential key player with an eye towards Week 18, when it will be a win-or-go-home matchup in Jacksonville.

The Colts.

I’m sorry, but there is no way we are going to waste your time talking about the Colts anymore this season. They now get to join the Texans for the rest of the season as “2023 NFL Draft Countdown” teams. Only two more games to go, Colts fans. Before you know it, Jeff Saturday will be back on your television screens before games and not during them.

The Texans.

That was a nice win for the Texans, but was it too nice to potentially ruin having the top overall selection in the draft? Time will tell, but for now, there’s only two more weeks of this horrid football, Texans fans.

Hello there, I’m Nick Brinkerhoff, a New Jersey native with enough sarcasm and attitude to show I’m not from New York. Despite being Jersey born and bred, I’m a diehard New York sports fan (Jets, Nets, Rangers, Mets) who has seen plenty of losing, but my sports betting ability will hopefully continue to balance those scales. I have season tickets to the Jets but believe it to be more character building than bad asset management. Althoug
