Nick’s Picks NFL Week 12: Can anyone score a TD?

By now, we’ve probably all talked about what we are thankful for this week. Personally, there are a lot of things, too many to list, on my end, but in regards specifically to this weekly column, it’s hard to not be thankful. Thankful of course that giving out a winning parlay is not part of my job security, otherwise your favorite writer here would be in serious danger, prepping the old resumé for my next endeavor.

Sure, luck hasn’t been on our side, but all it takes is one to completely change the narrative.

Chris Godwin (TB) +145

We talked about in the picks column that the Buccaneers might have found themselves in Munich two weeks ago. Now coming off a bye, this Tampa team is like the friend that took a gap year so they could find themselves by “seeing the world.” They took their older quarterback who was hitting a rough patch in life, but instead of buying a Ferrari or Lamborghini to satisfy that mid-life crisis, they instead sought out that weekend in Germany. In reality, it was probably because Tom Brady almost certainly owns his fair share of expensive cars, so they had to think outside the box.

Regardless, the Bucs are back, for now, which means it’s Chris Godwin time on Sunday in Cleveland. Mr. Reliable managed to find the end zone for the first time this season in Munich two weeks ago, which means it’s time for one on American soil and thanks to a generous Browns’ defense, we like his chances. From a fantasy football perspective, Godwin gets to face off against a defense that is allowing the 7th most touchdowns to receivers on a per game basis.

Betting Chris Godwin to score a touchdown means that he must be on the rushing or receiving end of the score, as passing touchdowns do not count. At +145, a $100 straight bet would payout an additional $145. A straight bet is when you are only betting on one outcome.

Terry McLaurin (WSH) +195

A couple things are true about this pick. Terry McLaurin has a big workload every week, but does not find the end zone as much as he should. The Commanders have found success and with every win, Scary Terry gets himself a new pair of Jordans. On the bright side, the Falcons’ pass defense ranks in the bottom third of the league and has given up 14 touchdowns to opposing receivers in just 11 weeks. He’ll definitely get the necessary work, now it’s just about finding pay dirt.

Garrett Wilson (NYJ) +200

There’s an interesting trend to these weekly parlays now, as it appears that we are almost always a week early on some players. For reference, it’s almost a guarantee that either Garrett Wilson, David Njoku, Cole Kmet, or Parris Campbell will score a touchdown this week. For the sake of discussion, we are going with Wilson, who is in prime position to benefit from a quarterback change as the Jets have elected to start Mike White this week. The positive thing about White is that the team will ask him to just make the simple throws and let the playmakers handle the rest. Enter Wilson, the receiver. He is almost always open, as any advanced stat will tell you, but Wilson, the quarterback, has been awful at getting him the ball. Think of this week as almost a return to the Joe Flacco-led Jets from earlier this season, where the rookie out of Ohio State truly broke out. Against a bad Bears’ defense, expect this rookie to shine.

Derrick Henry (TEN) -165

We really need an easy one to get us going this week, so we’ll take a guy that is almost automatic, Derrick Henry. By now, you’re probably tired of hearing about how the Titans need some respect, but it’s still true. Therefore, we have to show the Titans some love, since no one else will. That’s why King Henry will make sure that we, at the very worst, don’t get shutout this week. You really don’t need any fancy stats or narratives to know that if the Titans are going to win, be competitive, or even score, it’ll almost certainly be because of Henry.

TD Parlay +3382

This week’s parlay pays +3382, meaning that a $100 bet would payout an additional $3,382 if we cash them all. It might not be the biggest longshot of all time, but it should help ease the bill that’s coming from your Thanksgiving dinner and Black Friday holiday shopping spree. Regardless, the only thing that matters is getting a win, because they all count the same. Now let’s notch a win in Week 12 and hopefully find ourselves celebrating by the kickoff of the late window.

A parlay is when you are betting on multiple outcomes for the hopes of securing a larger payout. In order to win the bet, we have to win each of the individual wagers, meaning in this case we need to win all four to take home the cash.

I have season tickets to the Jets but believe it to be more character building than bad asset management. Althoug
