The Greatest Resume You've Never Read
The Patterson File reads as one of the more surprising accumulation of accolades in the world of sports. Patterson didn't become fantasy relevant until his 30s, yet, he has more All-Pro selections than your favorite player.
Patterson might not have lived up to the expectations that his first-round draft capital provided, but he's carved out a career as an All-World special teamer and now, a legitimate running back in the NFL. Not too shabby for a guy whose name was followed by "wide receiver" on draft night.
It's been a long, winding road to this point, complete with five NFL teams. None were more important than the New England Patriots, who gave him his first look at running back. He's always been a dynamic athlete and a big play threat, and obviously had enough ball skills to play wide receiver, even if other necessary skills evaded him. At running back, there is less stress on the technique's of route running and catching in traffic. Easy completions, manufactured touches, and fool-proof ways to get him the football. He has Bill Belichick to thank for adding some more years to that resume.
