NFL Week 8TNF

Nick’s Picks: Back Brady, Bucs to get back on track with FanDuel’s No Sweat TNF Bet

When the 2022 Thursday Night Football schedule initially came out, this Week 8 matchup was circled. RavensBuccaneers in Tampa under the lights. Well, with seven weeks completed, the game has lost all of its luster. Thankfully, FanDuel is back with the “No Sweat TNF Same Game Parlay (SGP) Bet,” so even if we get another Thursday night disaster, there is at least one thing to root for. Our wallet. The Saints‘ decision to keep the ball away from Alvin Kamara on the one yard line last week killed our chances at cashing in again, but that’s why we are out for revenge this week. We have only been a few bad bounces away from an incredible TNF run this season. Let’s get on the right side of things. This is our same game parlay for another Amazon Prime showdown.

UNDER 9.5 Total Points – First Quarter (-116)

The best part of this SGP is how we’ll know quickly whether there is a chance to win or not. If there are 10 points or more in the first quarter, then the bet will lose and we’ll be on to other tasks, like taking out the trash and doing dishes. That’s no way to spend a Thursday night, so we put this bet in as a built in excuse. You’re welcome. Thanks to these two brutal first quarter offenses, you’ll have no choice but to await the game’s result.

Ravens games have gone under 9.5 in five of seven games this season, and Tampa is four of seven in the same spot. The best part though? Neither of these teams are typically responsible for putting the quarter over the total. Tom Brady’s Buccaneers haven’t scored a touchdown in the opening 15 minutes yet this season, while Lamar Jackson and the Ravens have failed in three straight.

Most importantly, the Thursday night games have only gone over this number in two of the first six games. With both teams looking to control time of possession on a short week, expect chances to be limited, leading to a fast paced opening quarter and an early green check on our parlay.

Lamar Jackson (BAL) ALT OVER 50+ rushing yards (-260)

Jackson’s line is set at 62.5, but thanks to the alternate lines available on FanDuel, we can sacrifice some of the payout for a better chance at winning. He has surpassed this line in six of the last seven games, with the only under in Week 1 against the Jets. Tampa was just gashed on the ground in Carolina, giving up 173 rushing yards against the new-look Panthers backfield.

There are questions surrounding running back Gus Edwards and his workload on a short week coming off an ACL injury, so that’s why we look to Jackson for the second leg of the parlay. He is the only constant we can rely on, especially thanks to a banged up Baltimore offense, with uncertainty surrounding Mark Andrews availability specifically. With two of the three starting Bucs cornerbacks and starting safety Antoine Winfield Jr. sidelined, Tampa won’t be able to stop everything. With Jackson playing for a new contract, he’ll want to have a big game in prime time.

Cade Otton (TB) ALT OVER 40+ receiving yards (+122)

Starting tight end Cameron Brate is out tonight, which means it’s Cade Otton time once again. In two games without Brate this season, Otton recorded 43 receiving yards in the first contest and then followed it up with 64 last week in Carolina. It’s no secret that Brady likes throwing to the tight end, no matter who it is, and Otton has begun to prove himself, making this a great spot. Baltimore’s defense has been generous to tight ends this season, and last week gave up 71 yards to the BrownsDavid Njoku, who even left early due to injury. The Ravens have also surrendered touchdowns to the position in four games this season (hint, hint), including two out of the last three. This could end up being Otton’s breakout game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Moneyline (-132)

Picking a winner in this game feels like a fool’s errand, but we are going to do it anyway. FanDuel is being stingy with the lines available this week, testing our creativity. Money has been pouring in on Tampa, making the Bucs a favorite after opening the week as underdogs. Line movement like that doesn’t happen for no reason, and it’s obvious this game means a lot more to Tampa right now. They just got embarrassed and are staring down a 3-5 record to start the season. Relevant or not, if you are to believe the gossip, Brady’s life is falling apart as the divorce headlines dominate the media. He typically responds with a big game following an embarrassing loss. This might not be prime Brady, far from it actually, but if the Bucs are to save their season, they’ll have to start at home on this October Thursday night. Fire the cannons.

Parlay +1160

This parlay pays +1160, meaning a $100 bet would win an additional $1,160. All odds are courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook and their special “No Sweat Same Game Parlay” promotion. Head over to the promotions page for details on your max wager as well as terms and conditions. Don’t forget to opt in before placing the bet and as always, please bet responsibly.

Basic Tips

A same game parlay is when you are combining multiple outcomes from the same game for a bigger payout. For example, if Cade Otton fails to record at least 40 receiving yards, the wager will lose whether the other outcomes happen or not. We have to go 4-for-4 in order to take home the cash. The bet is considered “No Sweat” because if the wager loses, you will be refunded in the form of a free bet equal to your wager amount up to whatever your max is. A moneyline wager is when you bet on a particular team to win the game.

You can sign up for a FanDuel account and get in on the action since they are offering new players, UP TO $1,000 BACK IN BONUS BETS. See sportsbook for details.
