NFL Week 8

NFL Rapid Reactions Week 8: Coaching dominates AFC West discussion

Bye weeks in the NFL can sometimes be a real pain. For the fans, of course. The Week 8 action for the 2022 season delivered us a vacation from the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers. Now in a division that was supposed to be good, no problem right? Wrong. Instead, we got to focus even more on the pitiful Las Vegas Raiders and downright disappointing Denver Broncos. Hooray for us.

Josh McDaniels’ seat is heating up

If you want, there are excuses to be made for this performance from the Raiders. Derek Carr was dealing with a back injury, Davante Adams had the flu, the list can go on and on. However, the reality is that those two played, as did others, but somehow couldn’t even cross midfield until the fourth quarter. The team finished with 183 yards of total offense, despite having both the talent and health advantage over the Saints. Explain that one.

Josh McDaniels had what could have been the 200th edition of the closed door meeting with team owner Mark Davis, which probably says a lot about the state of this team. There is far too much talent to be this bad, but they keep inventing new ways every week. McDaniels is going right on the hot seat, which is obviously not a good sign in his first year. Unfortunately for him, McDaniels is still being plagued by the same problems that derailed his first job with the Denver Broncos.

Break up the Broncos!

After a win in London, the entire Broncos team might opt to do some high knees and hold workouts in the aisles on the plane. Maybe Russell Wilson started a trend. The offense looked much better despite a bad start and you can see the excitement on the face of Nathaniel Hackett, who really needed this win to quiet some critics. Despite dealing with his fair share of injuries, Wilson delivered a big win of his own, as he too was facing criticism from all angles. Could this be the turning point for the Denver offense? Maybe we should pump the brakes just a bit as the win did come against a Jaguars team that is very good at surrendering leads. However, the Broncos scored in the red-zone multiple times in the same game. They’ll have the bye week to celebrate, but there is no doubt this team is officially riding high. With this defense, how could you blame them?

Hello there, I’m Nick Brinkerhoff, a New Jersey native with enough sarcasm and attitude to show I’m not from New York. I have season tickets to the Jets but believe it to be more character building than bad asset management. Althoug
