Isaiah Simmons Is Just Like Us
Watching the Red Zone channel on Sundays blesses us with non-stop football. One second your favorite fantasy receiver is scoring a touchdown. The next, a second-half kickoff was taken back for a touchdown. Seconds later, a quarterback throws a crucial interception. With so much constantly happening, we tend to forget these incredibly talented athletes are people, too.
And like the rest of us, they still wish they were kids.
Being a grown-up sucks," said Simmons, during an interview with Sports Illustrated.
Simmons explained the cyclical mundanity of adult life, complaining about taxes, bills, and just trying to go one day without spending money. He takes pride in earning his keep and helping his family, even when his job is a grind at best and physically destructive and life-threatening at worst.
The next time you see Simmons pick off a slant route or tackle a running back behind the line of scrimmage, you might be tempted to jump for joy or curse at him like a sailor. Just remember, like the rest of us, Simmons is a kid at heart. He's got bills to pay, too.
