It's Bull-LOCK
For years NBA fans, and probably many more people outside that scope, would pronounce Reggie Bullock's name wrong. Maybe they said, "Bull-uck." However you want to phrase it, that's wrong. Yet somehow, someway, many people never got it right. After spending years in the league, he waited until the 2021 offseason to finally put the debate to rest. Bull-lock. There's plenty behind that name for a role player that has dealt with personal tragedy too often during his life.
In 2014, his sister, Mia Henderson, was found dead in an alley in Baltimore, stabbed in the chest, arms, and back. She was originally born as Kevin Long, but wanted to identify as female, leading Bullock to be a champion for LGBTQ rights. Bullock has immersed himself in those issues in every NBA community he's joined. Then in 2019, his other sister, Keiosha Moore, was shot and killed, also in Baltimore.
As tribute, that is where Bullock's signature hair style came from. Fans often wonder what the reason for the multiple colors are. Each color represents one of his two sisters, who Bullock believes he failed as a protector. For the three-point shooting and defensive wing, he never wants them to be forgotten and he honors them every day. Just a quick search for "Reggie Bullock's hair" tells the whole story, so their memory continues to live on.
