All-Troll First Team
Joel Embiid is one of the eight-or-so players in that tier of 1A superstars that renders his team a championship contender every year. But it's not his true calling.
Embiid may leverage social media better than any other NBA talent when it comes to trolling and generating engagement.
You don't get a nickname like "Troel" without such a skill. Embiid has a long history of beefing with athletes. He has caused fights with Karl-Anthony Towns, amongst others, fueled with social media spats and gossiping with former teammates.
Perhaps most notably was his tweet posted after the news of the Ben Simmons for James Harden trade broke.
Simmons departure gave the 76ers a star who would see the floor and shoot the basketball, two things Simmons hadn't done much of. It became clear Embiid and Simmons didn't exactly enjoy each other.
When the news broke, Embiid dropped a meme of a man at a funeral on his Twitter page. The man in the picture is there to essentially make sure his enemy is dead.
Embiid won the day and the attention of NBA fans on one of its biggest news breaks of the decade. Good work, Troel.
