The Apparently Uncultured Andrew Wiggins
Andrew Wiggins has had a hell of an NBA career, even if everyone had bigger plans for the former first overall pick. He's been a bust, he's been a key part of a championship run, he's been traded away in the pursuit of a super team.
With these storylines underlining his career, perhaps Wiggins hasn't had the time to sit back, relax, and look around for a while. He definitely hasn't been watching movies.
As a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wiggins got the chance to play with greats like Kevin Garnett and Zach LaVine. The latter two enjoyed a bonding experience over the movie "Gladiator," acknowledging the war of attrition taking place and attributing it to their own battles as professional basketball players.
Feeling it was necessary to rally the troops around this messaging, they called Wiggins, a rookie, over.
First irked by getting his game preparation derailed, Wiggins turned from annoyed to confused.
"I don't even know what 'Gladiator' is," he started. "I've never heard of this movie. Y'all go get ready for the game."
The film won five Academy Awards. Such ceremonies are apparently child's play to the NBA champion.
I wonder what other movies he hasn't seen!
