- Him and teammate Mikal Bridges are known as "The Twins"
Cameron Johnson is a twin...kind of
Phoenix Suns wing Cameron Johnson has a single sibling, a younger brother. Yet, he's considered a twin by those persevering in the dry Arizona heat.
Johnson's nickname of sorts refers to his partnership with star defensive anchor Mikal Bridges. Drafted a year apart, the similarities are aplenty between the two.
Both were lottery selections. Both drafted from prolific college basketball titans. Both play the same position and have similar roles. Both spent multiple years at their respective schools. Both are from Pennsylvania, those the in-state differences have led to some disagreements.
Both were sidelined during the 2019 Summer League circuit rolled around, and their connection blossomed. They've grown to fuel each other to be better basketball players on the court, in the film room, and during workouts.
As with two supposed best friends, the inside jokes are quite common, too. They like to...bark at each other. It's a unique joke, I'll give them that much.
The Twins grew close, but their relationship took head coach Monty Williams by surprise. When the duo were referred to by the nickname, Williams was confused. "They don't even look alike," he thought to himself.
Little did he know how important their relationship would become.
