Remember the Name
Since Jaden Ivey set his sights on the NBA dream, all he ever wanted was for people to know his name. He is the son of Niele Ivey, the head coach of the Notre Dame women's basketball team. He has been around the game and had the ability to learn from the players that passed through that Notre Dame gym for years. Ivey even joked at times that he spent more time in those gyms than the players who were actually on the teams.
All that hard work paid off for Ivey with a two-year run at Purdue with the Boilermakers, where they ultimately fell short of winning a national title, but Ivey still left West Lafayette accomplished.
No one would ever forget his name and the Detroit Pistons further solidified that on draft night, taking the explosive guard fifth overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. Growing up with a coach for a parent isn't always easy, but that didn't stop Jaden and Niele from forming an unbreakable bond, which provided a heartwarming exchange on draft night during the post-pick interview on ESPN.
