Do the John Wall
John Wall is one of the most electric point guards of the century. His prolific rise through Kentucky to Washington D.C. is filled with highlights, awards, and some damn good basketball. You can bet he's gone viral a few times.
His internet fame culminated during his NBA preseason debut. Eyes were on Washington after they selected Wall first overall. When his name was announced, he introduced himself in seemingly the best way possible.
In front of the league he would end up dominating, he "dougied," a firm hello that would render him beloved before his first basket.
His dance became a trend, and "Do the John Wall" videos skyrocketed up YouTube's charts. It was cool, endearing, and a reminder of how NBA stars are just different.
Injuries, contract conundrums, and mental health struggles would eventually take a toll on Wall. His physical and mental suffering making basketball far less certain than in the prior two decades.
However, being acquired by the Los Angeles Clippers provided a path back to basketball. Playing meaningful minutes on a team with championship aspirations gave Wall something to play for, and his excitement is obvious.
On October 6, 2022, Wall dougied again.
