Robinson's Peculiar Path
Some fans despise the one-and-done rule. Others hope for athletes to enter the draft straight out of high school. Mitchell Robinson found his own middle ground.
Shortly after enrolling at Western Kentucky University, Robinson was suspended for a violation of team policies. After scouring the transfer portal, Robinson decided that playing college ball was overrated. He sat out the season and declared for the draft anyway.
To add to his ways, Robinson also did not participate in that year's NBA Draft Combine. Regardless, his talent was evident since high school. The Knicks took a chance on him in the second round and are still reaping the rewards.
Robinson's absent path to the pros remains unprecedented, despite advancements in non-collegiate options. Should he be considered a trailblazer?
